DENVER Louisiana Tech third baseman Adam Dodson and San Jose States right-handed pitcher Matt Durkin have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for February 3-9.
Dodson, a junior from Bossier City, La. (Airline HS), was 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in two games for the Bulldogs last week. Dodson homered in each game and also scored a total of three runs in the victories over Centenary and Mississippi Valley State.
It is Dodsons first ever WAC Player of the Week award.
Durkin, a sophomore from Willow Glen, Calif. (Willow Glen HS), posted a 12-1 win over Cal Poly, pitching six innings and striking out 10 batters in his 2003 debut. Durkin gave up just one earned run, three hits and one walk in the contest.
It is Durkins third WAC Pitcher of the Week award.
Other player of the week nominations included: freshman second baseman Isaac Omura, Hawaii; and junior third baseman Kevin Frandsen, San Jose State.
Additional pitcher of the week nominations included: senior Chris George, Hawaii; and junior Mateo Miramontes, Nevada.
