Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week (Feb. 10)

DENVER Rices Ryan Harlan has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Harlan, a senior from Hewitt, Texas, posted the second-fastest preliminary time in the 60 meters at 7.97 at the Houston Indoor Invitational. He came back to finish second in the final heat, with an NCAA provisional mark of 7.85, best in the WAC this season. Harlan also cleared 21-3 in the long jump, landing in the top eight.

Additional nominees included: Hannes Hopley, SMU and Branon Vaughan, Tulsa.


Rices Allison Beckford has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Beckford, a senior from Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, won the 400 meters with an NCAA provisional mark of 54.07 at the Houston Indoor Invitational. She also guided the Owls 4x400 meter relay team to a second-place finish with at time of 3:43.00.
