DENVER San Jose States Becca Baldridge and Tulsas Ami Day have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Baldridge earned her first career player of the week honor, while Day earned her second career honor. Day was honored the week of March 25 last season as a freshman.

Baldridge, a senior from La Crescenta, Calif. (Crescenta Valley) also earned preseason all-WAC honors earlier this season as an outfielder. Baldridge led the Spartans to a stellar 4-1 record at the New Mexico State Tournament. San Jose State finished second behind Southwest Texas State. For her efforts, Baldridge was named to the all-tournament team.

The senior hit safely in all five games, extending her hitting-streak to 10 games, dating back to the final game of the 2002 season. Baldridge had six extra-base hits in five games, including a two-hit, three-RBI performance against Bowling Green. She had at least one RBI in all five games. In the Spartans 10-2 win over New Mexico State, she was 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Day, a sophomore from Catoosa, Okla. (Catoosa) went 1-0 in three appearances for the Hurricane, earning tournament MVP honors at the Mardi Gras Classic, leading Tulsa to the tournament title. Day did not allow a run in just over nine innings, while picking up a complete-game victory over Auburn. She also picked up a save in a 1-0 victory over host school Louisiana-Monroe. The Golden Hurricane finished the weekend 3-1, battling rain and snow in Monroe.
