2003 NCAA SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP - The 2003 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship will be held Thursday, March 20 through Saturday, March 22 at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala. The host will be Auburn University. SMU grabbed ninth in the 2002 Championships and looks to better that spot, entering the Championship ranked fifth by the CSCAA. For complete coverage visit auburntigers.com/ncaaswim.

2003 NCAA QUALIFIERS - There are 19 NCAA qualifiers from the Western Athletic Conference heading to Auburn to compete in the 21 different events. SMU has the most with 15, while Hawaii has two and both Rice and Nevada have one. SMU also qualified four relays.

RIGAMONTI LOOKS TO DEFEND TWO TITLES - SMUs Flavia Rigamonti is the only WAC athlete back to defend her 2002 National Title. The sophomore from Breganzona, Switzerland, won the 500 and 1,650 Freestyle in Texas last year, owning the best time in the nation in each this season. She currently owns a time of in the 500 Freestyle at 4:38.48. Natalie Coghlin of Cal has a time of 4:39.50 for second on the list. At the WAC Championship this season, Rigamonti set a new WAC record with a time of 15:40.41 in the 1,650 freestyle. The mark is 14 seconds better than Kaitlin Sandeno of USC who is second.

2003 WAC SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP - For the seventh-straight year, SMU won the team title at the Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship. The Mustangs earned a total of 1006.5 points at the Palo Alto College Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas, finishing the championship with 16 gold medals, topping last seasons gold medal total of 14. SMU was the first WAC school to ever break 1000 points.

BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS -There were four athletes and five relay teams that successfully defended their titles from 2002.
