DENVER, COLO. - Fresno States Christina Clark and Tulsa's Ami Day have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Day also earned Pitcher of the Week in February, and she now has three career honors. This is the first career honor for Fresno State's Clark.

Clark, a freshman from Santa Ana, Calif., (Mater Dei), helped the Bulldogs extend their winning streak to a season-high eight games. Fresno State is now above .500 for the first time this season with a 15-14 record.

Clark hit .600, while collecting seven extra bases hits (two doubles, two triples and three home runs). She had four multiple-hit and one multiple-RBI game, while collecting 27 total bases. Clark was the first Bulldog in softball history to hit three home runs in a doubleheader. Clark recorded her fourth three-hit game on the year against San Diego State. In the doubleheader against CS Northridge, Clark batted .429 with a run, two triples, an RBI and seven total bases.

Day, a sophomore from Catoosa, Calif., (Catoosa), pitched in six games last week on a long east coast trip. The Golden Hurricane moved to 21-12, good for first place in the WAC.

Day was named the Hoo's Who Invitational Most Outstanding Pitcher with her 3-0 record. She ended the week with an 0.84 ERA with 18 strikeouts, allowing only three earned runs. The sophomore has now won five consecutive decisions, improving her record to 8-5.

Other player of the week nominees included: Stacey Porter, Hawaii, Tara Hall, San Jose State and Katie Torres, Tulsa.

Other pitcher of the week nominees included: Leslie Poole, Fresno State and Carol Forbes, San Jose State.
