ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Daniela Muscolino, a freshman from Buenos Aires, Argentina, helped the Hurricane to a 2-1 record over the week, posting three wins. She was the lone singles point in Tulsas loss to South Carolina, winning 6-2, 6-2 from the No. 3 singles spot. She picked up another win against Abilene Christians Lacy Johnson, 6-2, 6-2. From the No. 2 spot, Muscolino grabbed a 6-0, 6-1, win against Oral Roberts Isabelle Soucy. She also posted three doubles wins with partner Zoe Buhagiar from the No. 3 doubles.

OTHERS NOMINATED - Lauren Archer of Rice defeatd New Orleans Patricia Osedumore, 6-4, 6-4, giving Archer her seventh win in her last nine matches ... Nadia Vaughan of SMU won five straight matches to bring her dual record to 11-3.


NOTES FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE
Boise State - The Broncos upped their record to 13-3 winning the Anteater Invitational, defeating Portland, UTEP and host UC Irvine in the championship. Erin Polowski, 12-1, picked up her first lost of the season, falling at the No. 2 singles spot.

Fresno State - The 23rd ranked Bulldogs have faced a top 25 opponent in four of their last six matches. They suffered losses to No. 13 William and Mary (5-2), No. 3 California (6-1), No. 14 Washington (6-1) and upset by No. 24 Harvard (5-3). Fresno State will stay in state to round out March, facing Pepperdine in Malibu and Washington State in San Francisco.

Hawaii - The Rainbow Wahine won five matches during their seven-match home stand, moving their record to edge above .500, at 10-9. Hawaii will head to Reno, Apr. 11 for three conference matches, taking on Nevada, UTEP and Louisiana Tech in consecutive days before the conference tournament in Boise, Apr. 24.

Louisiana Tech - The Lady Techsters had their only match last week cancelled, when Louisian-Lafeyette had too many players sick or injured to take the court. La Tech is at home for one match against Arkansas-Little Rock before it heads to Reno for three conference matches.

Nevada - The Wolf Pack picked up their first win of the season, defeating Idaho State, 6-1 at the Anteater Invitational. In the second round of the tournament, they fell to host UC Irvine (5-2). Nevada defeated conference foe UTEP in the consolation final, sweeping the doubles point, earning a 4-3 win over the Miners.

Rice - In the Owls only match in late March, they squeaked out a 4-3 win over New Orleans. The win put a halt on the four-game slide that Rice was one. They are off this week before a three day trip to face instate rivals, UTA, TCU and SMU.

Tulsa - The Golden Hurricane evened up their record at 8-8, going 2-2 over their last four. Tulsa picked up home wins over Abilene Christian and Oral Roberts, but fell to South Carolina and New Mexico. The Hurricane look to gain momentum heading into the conference championship, playing four of their final six matches at home.

ITA RANKINGS - Fresno State is currently ranked 23rd in the nation, the highest WAC team. Tulsa is 53rd, while Boise State is currently 61st. Fresno State sophomore, Chloe Carlotti became the eighth-ranked player in the nation with the release of the March 26th ITA rankings, marking her highest ranking during her career. Tulsa senior Alicia Pillay fell to 22nd in the nation.

How an Average is Determined - A player/team's average is determined from the total number of ranking points (from 8 best singles wins/7 best doubles wins) divided by the number of countable matches played (countable victories (8 this week for singles/7 for doubles) added to points from all losses). There are no changes to the points/formula used from last season, with the exception that 8 wins were counted rather than 7 for this ranking.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN BOISE This season, the Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in Boise, Idaho at the Appleton Tennis Courts on the campus of Boise State, April 25-27.
