GOLFER OF THE WEEK Scott Phillips, a junior from Corpus Christi, Texas, finished second at the San Diego Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. He helped the Owls to their highest finish of the season, taking fourth. Phillips shot a two-over 74 on the final day for a 54-hole total of 223 (+7) in tough weather conditions. Phillips finished six strokes back of the tournament champion, Mike McCabe of Portland.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN HOUSTON The 2002 WAC Tournament will hosted by Rice in Houston, April 28-30. The championship will be held at the Houstonian Golf and Country Club (www.houstonian.com). Tulsa won the 2002 crown by five strokes over UTEP. Tulsa sophomore David Inglis took home the individual crown by 10 strokes over SMUs Ryan Abbate.
