PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hawai'i's Reginaldo Moralejo, a senior from Bahia Blanca, Argentina, went 5-1 over the week from the No. 4 singles spot, upping his record to 14-3. In playing six matches in six days, he only went to three sets once, defeating Charlston Southerns Soufiane Rechag, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. On the doubles side, Moralejo went 3-3 with partner Francisco Brignole.

OTHER NOMINATED - Stefan Suta of Fresno State won both of his singles and doubles matches in both the Bulldogs pair of 4-3 wins ... Rudi Leuschner of Nevada led the Pack to its first winning streak of the season, winning all three of his singles and doubles matches ... Robert Searle of Rice defeated 35th ranked Lester Cook of No. 11 Texas A&M in Rices only match last week ... Johan Brunstrom of SMU has won six of his last seven matches, including a win over Fabrizio Sestini of TCU ... Dustin Taylor of Tulsa won both his singles matches and all three of this doubles matches.


AROUND THE WAC
Boise State - The Broncos split on the weekend, knocking of the Moutain Wests BYU, 5-2 for their third-straight win. In Boise States first conference match of the year, it fell to Fresno State, 4-3. The Broncos finish the season at home, hosting two more matches before the WAC Championship.

Fresno State - The Bulldogs begin a six-match home stand, taking on Santa Clara and UC Santa Barbara this weekend. Fresno State picked up a pair of 4-3 wins, knocking off BYU and WAC foe Boise State.

Hawaii - The Rainbows had six matches in six days, as they toured California. In going 4-2 over that stretch, they beat Cal Poly, SW Missouri State, West Virginia and Charleston Southern. The Warriors will head back home before returning to the states for matches with Air Force, Denver and Boise State.

Nevada - The Wolf Pack managed their first winning streak of the season, winning three in a row at home. In its first home matches of the season, Nevada defeated Sonoma State (7-0), Sac. State (5-2) and Montana (4-1). The Pack rounds out the home schedule taking on Idaho State, Apr. 4.

Rice - The 24th ranked Owls fell to No. 11 Texas A&M, 4-3 in their only match of the year. The Barker brothers remained undefeated, moving their spring record to 16-0. Rice travels north to Oklahoma for matches with Oklahoma State and Tulsa this week.

SMU - Continuing with their eight-match home stand, where the Mustangs are 3-1, they picked up wins over Texas San Antonio, 6-1, and conference foe Tulsa, 5-2. The only SMU loss came to TCU, 6-1. The Mustangs play host to LSU (Apr.2) and Notre Dame (Apr. 6) this week.

Tulsa - The Hurricane evened their record at 10-10 on the season, going 2-1 for the week. After defeating in-city rival, Oral Roberts, 7-0, Tulsa lost to TCU (6-1) and conference rival, SMU, 5-2. The Golden Hurricane have one more match on the road against Oklahoma State, before finishing the regular season at home with three matches.

PATTON NAMED HEAD COACH AT BOISE STATE - Former Bronco head coach Greg Patton, who led the Bronco mens tennis team from 1992 through 1998, has been rehired to again serve as the mens tennis head coach. From 1992 through 1998, Patton led the Broncos to five conference championships, with his teams making four NCAA Regional Tournament appearances and the 1997 team finishing fifth nationally. Patton was named NCAA Coach of the Year in 1997 after the Broncos top five national finish. In addition to his national coach of the year honor while at Boise State, Patton was also named conference coach of the year five times. His Bronco coaching record is 135-48 for a 73.8 winning percentage.

ITA RANKINGS - Rice moved into the top 25 for the first time this season, coming in 24th. Fresno State moved all the way to 45th, with Tulsa just behin them at 51. SMU is 54th, while Boise State (58) rounds out WAC teams in the top 75. The Rice twin duo of juniors Richard and William Barker fell to No.2 in the nation, after starting off the 2003 season at the top spot. The two won the 2002 Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships doubles title in November. It was the first indoor national men's doubles title in Rice history. Fellow Owl, freshman Robert Searle, is currently ranked at No. 27. Richard Barker is WACs highest ranked player, coming in this week, 22nd.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN BOISE This season, the Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in Boise, Idaho at the Appleton Tennis Courts on the campus of Boise State, April 25-27. The 2002 champion SMU Mustangs will look to defend their title.
