ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Louisiana Tech's Holly Ready, a sophomore from Auburndale, Fla., went a combined 4-0 on the week, helping the Lady Techsters to a pair of wins. She defeated Grambling States Michelle Rios, 6-1, 6-1, then earned a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win over Susan Linden of ULL in the final and deciding match. She also teamed with Anabella Duque for a pair of doubles wins.

OTHERS NOMINATED - Lucia Tallo of Fresno State continued her solid play, going a combined 4-0 in her singles and doubles matches, helping the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week ... Blair DiSesa of Rice won two matches for the Owls, improving her record to 11-8 on the year ... Elisa Bjrklund of UTEP led the Miners to back-to-back wins at the Barbara Chandler Classic in Boise. For the week, Bjrklund went 2-1 from both her singles and doubles positions ... Daniela Muscoino of Tulsa helped the Hurricane to a 4-3 upset of in-state rival, Oklahoma State, posting a, 6-2, 6-1 win from the No. 3 singles.


NOTES FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE
Boise State - The Broncos hosted the Barbara Chanlder Classic last weeked, picking up two 7-0 wins, defeating Utah State and UTEP. Boise State travels south to Oklahoma, where it will face Oklahoma State and Tulsa to conclude its regular season.

Fresno State - Fresno State plays in one of its final two matches, taking on Pacific Apr. 12. The Bulldogs will conclude their regular season at home against Utah, Apr. 19. The Bulldogs won twice last week to improve to 11-7 on the year. Fresno State defeated Northern Arizona, 5-2, before cruising past Santa Clara, 7-0, last weekend. Fresno State has won 15 of its last 16 home matches dating back to the beginning of last year.

Hawaii - The Rainbow Wahine travels to the mainland for a trio of conference matches in Reno, Nev. Hawaii will face conference foes, UTEP, San Jose State and Nevada to conclude its regular season.

Louisiana Tech - The Lady Techsters won thier only two matches of the week, defeating Grambling State (7-0) and Louisiana-Lafeyette (5-2). The match with Delta College was cancelled due to rain, making it the fourth cancelled match for La. Tech this season.

Nevada - The Wolf Packs matches against Utah State and Pacific were cancelled to due to weather. Nevada plays host to three conference opponents, preparing for the conference tournament. San Jose State, UTEP and Hawaii all travel to Reno. The tournament concludes the Packs regular season.

Rice - The Owls went 1-2 over the weekend, falling to TCU and SMU, 5-2, but picked up a 4-1 win over Texas-Arlington. Rice stays in Houston to conclude its regular season, facing Houston at their place Apr. 9, then hosts Texas A&M, Apr. 10.

San Jose State - The Spartans picked up their fifth win of the season, knocking off Portland State, 4-3. San Jose State has a mid-week matchup with St. Marys in Moraga before heading to Reno for a three-day, three-conference match tourney. The Spartans will face Nevada, Hawaii and UTEP.

SMU - The Mustangs picked up their third conference win, defeating Rice, 5-2. SMU plays host to rival TCU Apr. 8, before taking to the road to battle with Oklahoma.

UTEP - The Miners posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season, defeating Utah State, 5-2, and Lews and Clark, 4-3 at the Barbara Chandler Classic in Boise. UTEP travels to Reno this week for battles with conference rivals, Hawaii, San Jose State and Nevada.

Tulsa - The Golden Hurricane have won five straight and six of eight heading into this weekends matches. Tulsa has three home matches, taking on Auburn, Missouri and Boise State, before rounding out the regular season in Dallas at SMU.

ITA RANKINGS - Fresno State is currently ranked 25th in the nation, the highest WAC team. Tulsa is 46th, while Boise State is currently 50th. Fresno State sophomore, Chloe Carlotti became the eighth-ranked player in the nation with the release of the March 26th ITA rankings, marking her highest ranking during her career. Tulsa senior Alicia Pillay fell to 22nd in the nation.

How an Average is Determined - A player/team's average is determined from the total number of ranking points (from 8 best singles wins/7 best doubles wins) divided by the number of countable matches played (countable victories (8 this week for singles/7 for doubles) added to points from all losses). There are no changes to the points/formula used from last season, with the exception that 8 wins were counted rather than 7 for this ranking.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN BOISE This season, the Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in Boise, Idaho at the Appleton Tennis Courts on the campus of Boise State, April 25-27. The 2002 champion Fresno State Bulldogs will look to defend their title.
