The NCAA announced the singles and doubles participants for the NCAA Womens Tennis Championships today. Fresno State placed one singles player and a doubles team in the tournament, while Tulsa had two singles players advance.
WAC Player of the Year, Chloe Carlotti, leads the way for Fresno State. Carlotti will play both singles and doubles. She is the only WAC womens tennis player to advance in both the singles and doubles tournaments. Carlotti will play doubles with Lucia Tallo, who earned first team all-WAC honors in singles and doubles. First team all-WAC honorees Aleksandra Durska and Alicia Pillay of Tulsa will both compete in the singles competition.
The NCAA Singles Championship begins on Monday, May 19 and runs through May 24, with one round played each day at the University of Florida. The NCAA Doubles Championship gets underway on Tuesday, May 20, as the competitors play one round each day capped with the final on May 24th.
The selection of teams and individuals for the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships is based on the prescribed criteria listed in the championships handbook and approved by the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.
Fresno State is the only WAC school that advanced to the team championship that begins on May 9. The Bulldogs will travel to Tempe, Ariz., and face San Diego State in the first round.
