Tulsa Women Top List For the WICCCA NCAA All-Academic Cross Country Team

The University of Tulsa women's cross country team was named the top NCAA Division I All-Academic Cross Country team by the WICCCA (Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association) during the 2002-03 academic year for a cumulative GPA of 3.68. Nevada and Hawai'i also made the list, earning marks of 3.23 and 3.19 respectively.

To qualify for the list, each team must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (on a scale of 4.00) or higher. Those teams that earned 3.25 GPA and greater earned the title All-Academic Cross Country Team, With Distinction. There are a total of 323 NCAA Division I institutions that sponsor women's cross country. Ties were broken at the thousandths place if available.

Tulsa, who finished second behind Rice at the 2002 WAC Championship, grabbed the top honor on the WICCCA All-Academic Team combining for a 3.68 GPA.The Golden Hurricane edged Southern Utah who had a 3.67 GPA.

Nevada, who finished third at the WAC Championship, tied for 90th in the poll, posting a GPA of 3.23, tying with Georgia and Wake Forest. Hawai'i finished seventh at this year's conference championship and lands 96th in the poll with a 3.19 GPA.
