Fresno State's Clark Named to USA Softball Junior Women's National Team

FRESNO, Calif.-- All-American shortstop Christina Clark (Santa Ana,Calif.), who will enter her sophomore season next spring, was one of 17 players selected to the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team that will compete this fall at the VII International Softball Federation
(ISF) Junior Women's World Championships, Oct. 12-20, in Nanjing, China.

Clark was a member of the Junior Women's National Team last December,which captured a gold medal at the 2002 First Junior Women's Pan Am Championship in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Going 8-0 and outscoring its opponents 91-0 at the Pan Am Championship, the United States earned a berth into the ISF Junior Women's World Championship after claiming the Pan Am title.

Clark is the seventh Fresno State softball player and eighth Bulldog overall to compete at a ISF Junior Women's World Championship.

Former Bulldogs who captured medals at the ISF Junior Women's World Championship include Martha Noffsinger (1985, bronze), Julie Smith (1987, gold), Maureen Brady (1991, silver), Nina Lindenberg and Amanda Scott (1995, gold) and Lovie Jung (1999, silver). Head coach Margie
Wright was the head coach of the USA Junior Women's National Team that captured gold in 1995.
