The cross country season kicks into high gear with six teams in action this weekend. Nevada and San Jose State travel to Davis, Calif., for the Aggie Invitational. The Boise State and SMU men's squads both brought home titles last weekend, while the Fresno State women won the Stanislaus Invitational. ATHLETES OF THE WEEKMENSoeren Linder, a native of Hamburg, Germany, finished second at the Movin Mavs Cross Country Challenge in Arlington, Texas. He posted a time of 20:31 at the four-mile event, helping the Mustangs take the team title.
WOMENKara June, a senior from Santa Maria, Calif., won the Stanislaus Invitational for the second time in as many seasons. June ran the 6k event in a time of 21:41, 20 seconds better than her finish in 2002. The time is also five seconds better than her 2002 season-best.
