DENVER Tulsa forward Danielle Fauteux and UTEPs Kyla Clark have been named the first Western Athletic Conference womens soccer offensive and defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the 2003 season.
Fauteux, a sophomore from Kamloops, B.C., Canada, scored four goals in the Hurricanes first two games, registering eight points in two Tulsa wins. Fauteux tallied the third and final goals against Stephen F. Austin in a 5-0 win. She followed up that performance with another pair of goals, including the game winner, in a, 2-1, win over Arkansas.
Clark, a sophomore from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, posted a shutout in her first match of the season. In the double-overtime win, Clark registered 109:21 minutes of play. Clark did not play in the Miners second match of the weekend due to injury.
