DENVER Hawaiis Kim Willoughby has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 8. The two-time WAC Player of the Year has earned player of the week honors eight times during her career, including the first week of this season.

The senior left side hitter hit .461 in four matches last week as the Rainbow Wahine went 4-0 on the week, including a win over No. 11 UCLA. Hawaii also went 3-0 on its a way to winning the Aston Imua Challenge. Willoughby was named the Most Outstanding Player for the second-straight tournament.

For the second-straight week, Willoughby, a native of Napoleanville, La., also broke Hawaii records. Against Baylor, Willoughby had three great feats. She tied the school record for single-match aces with six. She broke the school record for career aces (140), and she surpassed the 2,000 career kill mark.

Willoughby had 102 kills and 42 digs in four matches as the Rainbow Wahine dropped one game in the four matches. The senior averaged 6.80 kills per game, while hitting .471. Against No. 11 UCLA, Willoughby recorded 34 kills, three aces and 17 digs.
