DENVER Nevadas Larissa Van Der Linde has been named the Western Athletic Conference swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.
Van Der Linde, a freshman from Paradise, Calif., won three individual events, had three other top-five finishes and swam on a winning relay in two days of competition. In the Wolf Packs dual with UNLV, Van Der Linde won the 100 freestyle (52.43), placed fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.38) and swam on Nevadas second place 400-medley relay team. Her time of 52.43 in the 100 free is the top time in the event by a Pack swimmer this season. In a dual with Northern Arizona, she won both the 50 (24.47) and 100 (52.60) freestyle events, while placing third in the 100 butterfly (59.27).
