DENVER Louisiana Tech forward/center Paul Millsap has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens basketball player of the week for January 19-25.
Millsap, a freshman from Grambling, La. (Grambling HS), scored a career-high 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a 75-61 win at SMU on Saturday. He was 9-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line in the victory and added two blocks, one steal and an assist in the contest. Millsap leads the nation in rebounding with 12.5 per game. It is Millsaps first ever WAC Player of the Week award and first for a Bulldog player this year.
The other nominations were junior forward Jermaine Blackburn, Boise State; sophomore guard Terry Pettis, Fresno State; senior guard Michael Kuebler, Hawaii; freshman forward Nick Fazekas, Nevada; junior guard Jason McKrieth, Rice; and senior guard Jason Parker, Tulsa.
