DENVER Rice forward Clory Martin and SMU goalkeeper Amanda Clark have been named the Western Athletic Conference womens soccer offensive and defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Martin, a freshman from Austin, Texas, scored in both of the Owls WAC matches last weekend. The standout forward scored the game-winning goal in the, 1-0, win over regionally ranked UTEP. Martin scored on two of her three shots for a .667 percentage. She leads the team in goals (7) and points (16).
Clark, a senior from Londonderry, Vt., posted two wins giving SMU the conference lead midway through the season. Clark allowed four goals while recording eight saves in a, 3-2, win over Rice and a, 5-2, win over Tulsa. Clark has played every minute during WAC matches this season and sports a goals against average of 1.49.
Other offensive nominees included: BreeAnn Milligan, Boise State; Natasha Kai, Hawaii; Tasha VanDixhorn, San Jose State; Olivia ORear, SMU and Katie Ward, Tulsa.
Other defensive nominees included: Kim Parker, Boise State and Adrienne Herbst, San Jose State.
