Hawai`i's Hittle Earns WAC Volleyball Honors

DENVER Hawaii right side hitter Tara Hittle has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 4. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of the year for the freshman and the second for the Rainbow Wahine this season.

The Colorado Springs, Colo., native had a career-match at Fresno State, hitting .625 with 22 kills, 10 digs and seven assists, just missing a triple-double. She then followed it up with a 19-kill, .545 hitting percentage match at Nevada. For the week, the freshman hit an amazing .585, the second-highest hitting percentage in the league last week. Last week, she averaged 4.56 kills per game and 1.11 assists per game. She is now hitting .316 on the year with 3.02 kpg and 1.70 dpg.

The Rainbow Wahine extended their winning streak against unranked teams to 184. Hawaii also extended its WAC winning streak to 80-straight matches.
