DENVER SMUs Will Dodson and Fresno States Laura Luethke have been selected as the mens and womens Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for September.
Dodson, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., was the Mustangs top finisher in both of their events in September. He posted a per-round average of 71.66, finishing in the top 10 at both the Notre Dame Invitational and Mason Rudolph, including a low round of 68. SMU was ranked 25th in the country in the Golf World Annual Preview. Dodson was named one of the Top 50 Male Players to Watch.
Luethke, a freshman from Clovis, Calif., won her first two collegiate events she competed in, earning a stroke average of 71.6. At the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic, Luethke fired an opening round of 68 and finished the tournament two-under par for her first collegiate win. At the Sacramento State Invite, Luethke was the lone golfer to fire a sub-par round, helping the Bulldogs register their first program win. Fresno State is in its first season sponsoring womens golf.
