Nevada's Young Earns Women's Basketball Player of the Week

DENVER Nevadas Amber Young has been named the Western Athletic Conference womens basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 15-21. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for the senior. She is the first Nevada player to earn player of the week since Laura Ingham, who earned the honor during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.

Young, a Scottsdale, Ariz., native, was named MVP of John Ascuagas Nugget Classic, leading the Wolf Pack to the team title with a win over Big 12 powerhouse, Colorado. Young had a double-double against Colorado with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The guard led all rebounders in both games, grabbing nine against Cal State Fullerton in Nevadas first win.

Young led the Wolf Pack to two wins last week. Nevada is now just one win shy of the three total wins by the Wolf Pack last season. Young is now averaging 9.5 rebounds a game to lead the Wolf Pack. She also added nine assists in two games.
