DENVER SMUs Laura Cross and Will Dodson have been selected as the womens and mens Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for November.
Cross, a sophomore from Midlothian, Texas, led the Mustangs to a third-place team finish with a ninth-place individual finish at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the 5,911-yard, par-72 Oak Point course in Kiawah Island, S.C., shooting a 76-70-74-220. Her season stroke average is 73.3 with a low round of 70 this fall. Cross was the 2004 WAC Freshman of the Year and competed in the NCAA Championship.
Dodson, a junior from Tulsa, Okla, finished in a tie for 12th place at the prestigious Western Refining All-America Golf Classic, finishing the three-round event with a 1-over 214. He shot rounds of 70-68-76 at the 6,817-yard par-71 El Paso Country Club. His fall stroke average is 71.3, while he has a low round of 68. This is the second Golfer of the Month for Dodson this fall, taking home the September award.
