DENVER Tulsas Jillian Robbins has been named the Western Athletic Conference Womens Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 28. This is the second WAC Player of the Week honor this season for the sophomore.
The sophomore, from Spring, Texas, turned in her fourth double-double of the year with 20 points and 11 rebounds and led Tulsa to a 79-71 road victory over Santa Clara in Tulsas lone game last week. Robbins finished perfect from both the field and from the free-throw line, as she connected on all nine field goal attempts and sank both free throw attempts. Robbins also produced four blocked shots and two assists and two steals in 32 minutes.
Santa Clara entered the game as the nations leader in three-point field goal made with 9.4 per game, featuring a four-guard line-up. Robbins not only made the move to the perimeter with ease, but she helped hold the Broncos to just three three-pointers on a 3-of-18 (.167) performance from behind the arc, and she also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Robbins tied the school single-game record for field goal percentage (1.000), and chalked up her 13th career double-double and registered her fifth game of the season with 20 or more points.
Other nominees include: Lauren Neaves, Rice and Katie Gross, SMU.
