DENVER Hawaii senior Lauren Fitzgerald has been named Novembers Western Athletic Conference womens tennis player of the month.
Fitzgerald, a Santa Maria, Calif., native finished the fall 6-2 in singles. Fitzgerald finished 2-1 in singles play in the month of November. She defeated preseason No. 7 Diane Hollands of Arizona, 6-2, 7-6(7) at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The victory over Hollands was Fitzgerald's biggest career upset. The Rainbow Wahine finished the fall season 0-1 after a 7-0 loss to nationally ranked Stanford in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.
OTHERS NOMINATED Fresno States Lucia Tallo reached the quarterfinals of the Palm Springs Invitational Louisiana Techs Anabella Duque made it to the finals of the of the B bracket of the Louisiana Pepsi Challenge at the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
