Both WAC co-champions Nevada and UTEP received bids to this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament, while Boise State, Rice and Hawaii will compete in the NIT.
Nevada is a No. 10 seed and will meet No. 7 Michigan State on Thursday in the St. Louis Bracket in Seattle, Wash. It is the first NCAA tournament bid for the Wolf Pack since the 1985 season. UTEP travels north on I-25 to Denver, Colo., and is a No. 13 seed in the Phoenix Bracket. The Miners face No. 4 Maryland on Thursday. The appearance for UTEP is its first since 1992.
In the NIT, on Wednesday night, Boise State hosts UNLV while Rice plays at Wisconsin-Milwaukee. If both teams win, they would play each other in the next round. Hawaii also plays Wednesday night and will take on future WAC member Utah State in Logan. Should the Rainbow Warriors win, their next opponent would be from a group that includes Nebraska, Creighton, Troy State and Niagara.
