DENVER SMUs Will Dodson has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Dodson, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., shot a final round four under 68 on the par 72, 7,083 yard course as the SMU men's golf team won for the third straight year at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La. Dodson's final round 68 landed the him at five under-par (211) for the tournament, just one shot off the individual title that was taken by Kansas's Kevin Ward who finished six under (210). Dodson finished the tournament with the second most birdies all week (11) and had the best par four scoring of any player in the field (-2).
As a team, SMU totaled the most birdies all week, carding 42 one-under scores for the tournament. The win was SMU's second win of the 2003-04 season and the team's sixth win since the beginning of the 2002-03 season.
