GOLFER OF THE WEEK Jenny Judd, a junior from Idaho Falls, Idaho, finished tied for fifth at the Bobcat Desert Classic and helped lead the Broncos to their first tournament title since the 1999-00 season. She shot a career-best round of 70 in the final round to finish with a 36-hole score of 147, one shot off the lead. The round of 70 ties for the second-best round in school history. Boise State finished with a 36-hole score of 597, which tied the Broncos with Western Michigan for the team championship. Boise States 36-hole score of 597 was 16 strokes better than the old school record of 613 shot at the Bronco Fall Classic on October 21-22, 2002.

OTHERS NOMINATED Kristin Rothengatter, SMU

HAWAII, SMU OWN TOP FIVE FRESHMEN CLASSES SMU and Hawaii are ranked third and fourth by Golfstat in the Freshman Class Impact Ratings, respectivley. SMU freshmen have a 77.75 scoring average and a 449.267 relative strength. Hawaii owns a 78.08 average and a 437.912 relative strength. The Mustangs are led by freshmen Laura Cross and Kristin Rothengatter. Cross, who has won twice this year, helped the Mustangs rally back from 14 shots down in the Miccosukee Championship, giving her and SMU the title. Rothengatter most recently finished second at the St. Croix Classic, posting a three-day total of 227 (+11). Hawaiis top freshman is Sara Odelius. Odelius has led the Wahine in five of six events this year. She had an eighth-place finish at the Spartan Invitational, shooting a 220 (+4).

SMU WOMEN WINS ST.CROIX CLASSIC BY 13 STROKES - SMU won its third tournament of the 2003-04 season, taking first at the St. Croix Collegiate Classic in the Virgin Islands. The Mustangs carded a final round 309 to take the team title with a three round total of 916 (+52). SMU finished 13 strokes ahead of second place Baylor (929, +65), while Texas Tech took third at 83 over (947) for the tournament. Freshman Kristina Rothengatter led the Ponies with a second place finish after a final round 79 at the Carambola Golf Club. Rothengatter finished the tournament just one shot off the individual title with a three round 227 (+11) on the par 72, 6,020 yard course. The Germany native finished the tournament with the second best scoring average (3.00, E) on par three holes. Freshman teammate Laura Cross finished one shot behind Rothengatter in a two-way tie for third at 12 over-par (228) for the tournament. Cross fired a final round 74. Cross ended the tournament with the top scoring average in the field on par four holes (+3, 4.10), while posting the most pars of anyone in the field with 40.

ADLETA NAMED AS INTERIM HEAD COACH Hawaii Athletics Director Herman Frazier appointed Ashley Adleta (pronounced ad-LEE-tah) as the interim women's golf coach effective January through June 2004. Adleta began her collegiate career at Pepperdine where she played two seasons and won the Wyoming Invitational. She completed her final two collegiate seasons at Arizona State under its legendary coach Linda Vollstedt, who recently retired in 2001. Adleta was a part of five national championship teams - two as a player at ASU and the other three as an assistant coach. Adleta graduated from ASU in spring 1994 with a B.A. degree in political science and played that following fall as an amateur on the Players' West Min-Tour, which is now called the Futures Tour. The former Sun Devil became an assistant women's coach at ASU from 1995-2001 before taking a job as an administrative assistant with her father's company, Adleta Corporation.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN EL PASO The 2004 WAC Tournament will be held Apr. 19-21 in El Paso, Texas, at the Underwood Golf Course. Tulsa is looking for a WAC record sixth-straight titles, after picking up number five in 2003 in Honolulu. Tulsas Julie Tvede is back looking to defend her title.
