DENVER SMUs Jerome Bortoluzzi and Tulsas Shana Robinson have been named the Western Athletic Conference mens and womens Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Bortoluzzi, a sophomore from Amneville, France, won the hammer throw competition at the College Station Relays on the campus of Texas A&M. He broke the meet record with a NCAA regional qualifying throw of 65.51m.
Robinson, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., tied her own school record in the 100-meter dash, crossing in a winning time of 11.35. She also regionally qualified in both the 100 and 200m in her first meet of the season. Her time in the 200m was 23.69, helping her to the win. Robinson also anchored the winning 4x100m relay team, who just missed the school record by a half second.
