WAC Men's Basketball Highlights 3/23/2004 12:00:00 AM Did You Know?Since 1999, the WAC is 8-8 in the NCAA Tournament and has had a team reach the Sweet 16 twice (Tulsa in 2000 and Nevada in 2004).The last time the Final Four was in San Antonio, the WAC had a team advance to the championship game (Utah in 1998).The WAC has had multiple teams in the NCAA Tournament in all but one season since 1981.For the 10th consecutive season, the WAC has won at least one NCAA Tournament game.The WAC has been a Top 10 conference in terms of conference RPI in seven of the last eight seasons.The WAC had three teams advance to the round of 16 in either the NCAA Tournament or NIT in 2004. Only three other conferences could claim more teams that advanced to that round (ACC, Big East and Big 12). Through Tuesday, March 23, WAC teams have reached the NCAA Sweet 16 (Nevada), the NIT final 16 (Boise State), and the NIT final eight (Hawaii).Five WAC teams have at least 21 wins this season. Only the Big East and CUSA can make the same claim.
