Fresno, Calif. - Stacy Welp, who for the last three season has been the head women's soccer coach at Fresno State, announced today she will not return for a fourth season. Welp plans to pursue other professional opportunites.
In three seasons, Welp guided the Bulldogs to a 23-32-2 record, including a 7-9-2 record in 2003. Fresno State finished sixth in the WAC and lost to Rice, 3-0, in the first round of the WAC Tournament.
Welp was an assistant coach at Fresno State for two seasons and helped the Bulldogs reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history in her first season (1999). The women's soccer program has also been recognized for academic achievement under Welp's guidance.
