DENVER Hawaiis Matt Kodama has been selected as the mens Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Kodama, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., captured the Ping Cougar Classic, winning a three-way playoff with a birdie in the first-hole sudden death. Kodama shot under par in each day, firing rounds of 70-67-69, for a -10, 206. The win was his seventh top-ten finish and first individual title of the season. Kodama picked up the second individual title of his career and the first for a Warrior since Kodama won the 2001 UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate.
The 41st annual Western Athletic Conference mens golf championship begins Monday, May 3 and runs through, Wednesday, May 5 at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif. Fresno State is looking to defend its team title from last year. Tulsas David Inglis looks for the conference sweep, as the senior has won that last three conference tournaments. His three straight wins are already the WAC record.
