DENVER Tulsa Dustin Taylor has been named the final Western Athletic Conference mens tennis Player of the Week. This is Taylors third Player of the Week honor this spring.
Taylor, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., netted a 1-1 singles mark and a 2-0 doubles record this week. In singles action, 100th-ranked Taylor dropped a hard-fought battle to OSUs 29th-ranked Mark van Elden, 6-4, 7-5, and tallied a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory over UCOs Gregg LeSueur. Taylor owns a 10-14 overall singles record this year, including a 7-9 dual mark. In doubles action, Taylor teams with Alejandro Tejerina for a No. 40 ITA doubles ranking. This week, the duo recorded victories over the Cowboys Tomas Bohunicky and van Elden, 8-4, and the Bronchos Mouhcine Guettabi and LeSueur, 8-1. The Golden Hurricane tandem own an 18-11 overall record, including a 15-8 dual mark.
