DENVER Tulsas Alejandro Tejerina has been named the Western Athletic Conference mens tennis Player of the Week. This is Tejerinas first Player of the Week honor this season.
Tejerina, a senior from Mar del Plata, Argentina, teamed with Dustin Taylor to overcome the nations top-ranked doubles tandem of Lester Cook and Ante Matijevic, 9-8, leading the Golden Hurricane to the doubles point against 25th-ranked Texas A&M. The duo also tallied an 8-4 decision over Lamar. In singles action, Tejerina dropped a, 6-1, 6-2, decision to Texas A&Ms ninth-ranked Ante Matijevic in the No. 2 slot, but tallied a, 6-3, 6-4, win over Lamars Ignacio Melus in the No. 1 position.
