SMU to Play Brazilian Women's National Soccer Team

Game Slated for 2:00 p.m. at Westcott Field

DALLAS - The international soccer craze hits Dallas as the SMU womens soccer team will host the Brazilian womens national team on Sunday, April 18. Kick-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU. The game is made possible by the joint efforts of SMU and the Dallas Burn. Tickets ($7.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth) are currently on sale and can be purchased at the SMU Ticket Office on the north side of Ford Stadium or day of game. Under the direction of new head coach Rene Simoes, the Brazilian womens national team is currently making a mini-sweep through Texas, beginning April 12 with a contest at Texas A&M. On April 15, Brazil faces Oklahoma State at the Harold Patterson Field in Arlington, Texas. After the SMU game on April 18, the Brazilian team will head to Birmingham, Ala., to face the U.S. womens national team on Saturday, April 24, in a nationally-televised match on ESPN2.
Brazil lost to Sweden in quarterfinal action by the score of 2-1 in last falls FIFA Womens World Cup, and placed fourth in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic games.
