DENVER Rices Ryan Harlan and Funmi Jimoh have been named the Western Athletic Conference mens and womens Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Harlan, a senior from Hewitt, Texas, dominated the 110-meter hurdles, taking first at the Sam Houston State Tune-up, posting a time of 14.01. The time is a regional-qualifying mark, and is the best in the WAC this year.
Jimoh, a sophomore from Missouri City, Texas, had the best day among her teammates, winning both the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump, in addition to placing third in the high jump. Her leaps of 19-08 (5.99m) in the long jump and 5-08 (1.73m) were her best of the year and qualified her for the regional meet in both events.
