DENVER Louisiana Tech outfielder Jeff Walker and Hawaii right-handed pitcher Ricky Bauer have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for April 27-May 2.

Walker, a senior from Mansfield, Texas (Angelina JC), hit .643 (9-14) in three games against Fresno State. In a doubleheader sweep of Fresno State on Sunday, Walker had seven hits including four in the second game, tying his career-high. He had a key hit in the five-run eighth inning as Tech rallied to win the game, 13-12. Walker also had four RBIs during the week and was walked twice. Louisiana Tech won the series against Fresno State, two games to one, its first WAC series win of the year.

Bauer, a junior from Kaneohe, Oauh (Mid-Pacific Institute), started and pitched nine innings in the Rainbows 1-0 10-inning victory over Nevada on Thursday as Hawaii ended an 11-game losing streak versus the Pack. Bauer allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out eight, but didnt get the decision as the Bows scored in the bottom of the 10th.
