DURHAM, N.C. - Rice junior pitchers Wade Townsend and Philip Humber and Fresno State sophomore outfielder Richie Robnett were named to Baseball America's 2004 all-America teams.
Townsend (12-0, 1.80) was named to Baseball America's first team while Humber (13-4, 2.27) was named to the second team. The duo, along with Rice junior right-hander Jeff Niemann, were selected among the first eight picks of the major league amateur draft on June 7.
Robnett was named a second-team All-American and becomes the 20th Bulldog to earn All-America honors from the publication and the first since 2002 when Ben Fritz was a second-team selection as a pitcher.
Robnett led the WAC in overall batting average (.384), slugging percentage (.699), doubles (27), total bases (160), was tied for first in stolen bases (21) and was second in hits (88) and third in home runs (13).
