Rice head baseball coach Wayne Graham will be one of seven state legends inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in February 2005, the organization's selection committee announced on Tuesday.
Graham will join a prestigious class of Hall of Fame inductees that includes current Houston Astros teammates Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio, Heisman Trophy winner and NFL All-Pro Tim Brown, basketball coach Harley Redin of national champion Wayland Baptist, Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton and former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro tackle Rayfield Wright.
Coach Graham has served as the Owls' head baseball coach since 1992. He's led the Blue and Gray to nine-straight conference championships, four appearances in the College World Series and the 2003 NCAA National Championship. He was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame last November.
The induction ceremonies will be in February but the date of the event will be announced by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in the near future. The TSHOF selection committee is chaired by legendary sports writer Dave Campbell.
Prior to an induction banquet at the Ferrell Center in Waco, there will be a reception and news conference at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame from where the patrons can meet the inductees and view their new exhibits. For more information contact Steve Fallon or Jay Black at 800-567-9561.
