She gathered to golds taking the 1,000 free in 9:49.80 and the 500 free in 4:48.51. She won the 1,000 free by nearly 10 seconds. Rigamonti holds SMU's season-best times in the 1,650 and 1,000 free. She also swam the 800 short-course meter in 9:28.52 to win gold at the European SC Championships in December.Other Nominated: Li Bei, Nevada and Urska Ros, Rice.CollegeSwimming.com PollWAC ADDS TWO AFFILIATE MEMBERSThe Western Athletic Conference announced that invitations for affiliate membership have been issued to and accepted by the University of San Diego and Northern Arizona to join the conference effective the 2004-05 season. Northern Arizona is a member of the Big Sky Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the National Independent Conference (NIC). It has done so since the 1998-99 season. The Lumberjacks have finished outside the top three at the NIC Championships only once, finishing second four times. San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference (PCSC).TEAMS IN THE CSCAA TOP 25SMU and Hawaii continue be ranked the CSCAA Poll. SMU is ranked seventh, while the Wahine moved up to 19th. Both teams finished the 2003-04 season in the top 25 and finished 1-2, respectivley, at the WAC Championship.SMU FALLS TO NO. 1 GEORGIAThe No. 6 SMU Mustangs were defeated by No. 1 Georgia, 162.50 129.50. The Mustangs finished the meet strong, winning the 400 free relay in 3:22.78 to close the Bulldog gap. Two-time NCAA Champion Flavia Rigamonti had two first place finishes on the day, winning the 1000 free (9:49.80) and the 500 free (4:48.51). Rigamonti won the second event of the afternoon, the 1000 free, by nearly 10 seconds. The 500 free had the closest finish of the day, as Rigamonti won by .31 seconds. PALO ALTO TO HOST 2005 WAC CHAMPIONSHIPThe 2004-05 WAC Championship will be held in San Antonio at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, February 23-26, 2005. The WAC returns to the Alamo City for its fifth-consecutive year. SMU has won the last seven championships, and will be competing in its last year as a WAC member.NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATIONThe 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held, March 13-17 at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue will serve as the host institution. NCAA Diving Zones will be held March 10-13 at each regions selected site.WAC TO ADD NEW MEMBER IN 2005New Mexico State and Idaho will join the Western Athletic Conference, beginning July 1, 2005. Both members and their swiming and diving programs will help continue the success the has had. The Aggies are led by head coach John Fedena, while the Vandals head coach is Tom Jager.
