Louisiana Tech's Kursh Earns Player of the Week Honors

DENVER Louisiana Techs Tamika Kursh has been named the Western Athletic Conference Womens Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 17. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for the sophomore this season, and the second for the Lady Techsters this year.

Kursh, a sophomore from Ft. Smith, Ark., averaged 14.0 points and 13.5 rebounds to lead Louisiana Tech to a pair of WAC wins over San Jose State and Hawaii. The Lady Techsters moved to 6-0 in league play with the wins and have won six-straight games.

Kursh posted her first career double-doubles, registering back-to-back double-doubles, while shooting 53 percent (11-of-21) from the field and 55 percent (6-of-11) from the free throw line.
In Louisiana Techs 66-52 come-from-behind win over San Jose State, Kursh scored a
career-high 17 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, including 12 offensive boards. The forward hit 7-of-15 field goals and was 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

Louisiana Tech trailed 24-22 at the half before Kursh scored 10 second-half points and
pulled down 11 second-half rebounds. The 15-rebound game is tied for the most in any WAC game this season. Kursh scored 11 points and pulled down 12 to lead Tech to a 68-54 come- from-behind win over Hawaii
