DENVER Northern Arizonas Corie Collins has been named the Western Athletic Conference swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.

Collins, a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., set two individual Wall Aquatic Center Pool records and was also a part of a third as the last leg of the winning 200 medley relay team at NAUs dual meet against New Mexico State. Collins, along with Shannon Packard, Cassie Lyons and Kelly Busche, started things off with a pool record in the 200-medley relay in the very first event. Their winning time of 2:00.68 was nearly two seconds better than the old record of 2:02.19 set by Missouri in 2002.

Collins first individual record came in the 50 freestyle where she swam a winning time of 27.07 (24.25 yards), beating a 12-year record set by Maria Anderson of Arizona State in 1993 with a time of 27:08. In the very next event, Collins set an individual record of 58.71 (52.60 yards) in the 100 freestyle, besting Heidi Hausnecht of Utah who swam a time of 59.11 in 1999.
