NEVADA?™S BAKER, BOISE STATE?™S AXTMAN CLAIM EAGLE ISLAND INVITE ?“ Nevada?™s Kali Baker and Boise State Ty Axtman both finished second at the Eagle Island Invitational in Boise, Idaho, but crossed as the top collegians. Baker earned a time of 18:03, while Axtman finished in 25:51.

Axtman, a junior from Elam, Wash., finished second at the Eagle Island Invitational, but crossed as the top collegiate finisher. He posted a time of 25:51 on the 8k course, finishing behind redshirting teammate, Forest Braden.
Baker, a junior from Las Vegas, came in second place at the Eagle Island Invitational with a personal best time of 18:03. Kali was the first collegiate runner to finish the 5k race.

WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000).
BOISE STATE WOMEN TAKE EAGLE ISLAND TITLE ?“ The Boise State women claimed the title at the four-team Eagle Island Invitational, the site of the 2004 WAC Cross Country Championship. In earning the title, Boise State?™s Becky Guyette, Breanna Sande, and Kendra Hernandez finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2005 WAC Cross Country Championship travels to Boise, Idaho. This year?™s championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at Eagle Island State Park. There will be two new team champions crowned with the departure of the Rice men and SMU women.

NCAA REGIONALS ?“ The 2005 Cross Country Regionals will be held at nine sites throughout the country. They will all be held Saturday, Nov. 12. WAC teams will be represented in three locations. The West Region will be held in Palo Alto, Calif. (Stanford). The Mountain Region will be held in Provo, Utah (BYU), while Louisiana Tech will be the lone team in the South Central Regional (Baylor) in Waco, Texas.
