DENVER ?“ Hawai'i forward Natasha Kai and Utah State defender Liz Masson have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference women?™s soccer offensive and defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Kai, a senior from Kahuku, Oaho, recorded her first hat trick of the year, only the second in the WAC this year, scoring all three goals in the, 3-0, win over Nevada to clinch the regular-season title for the Wahine. Over the weekend, Kai tallied 14 shots, giving her 58 for the season, breaking her own record of 49 set last season.
Masson, a senior from Salt Lake City, Utah, led Utah State to a pair of shutout victories against Boise State (4-0) and Idaho (2-0). The Aggie backline allowed just four shots against Boise State and six against Idaho. Masson was also a presence on offense, tallying her second career assist against the Broncos on Friday and her first career goal against the Vandals on Sunday. For the week, Utah State out-shot its opponents 49-10.
