Street, a junior from Federal Way, Wash., won only the 10th individual title in Boise State women?™s golf history after posting a three-round total of 223 (+10) at the Wolf Pack Invitational, Sept. 28. The tournament victory moves Street into sole possession of seventh place on the Bronco all-time record list for career top 25 finishes. Street led wire-to-wire, opening the tournament with a 73 (+2).
She moved four strokes ahead of Jenelle Gomez of San Jose State in the second round after posting a 1-over 72, the lowest round of the tournament. She closed out the tournament with a 78 (+7), holding off Gomez by one stroke. So far this fall, Street owns a 76 stroke average with a low of 72.
Other women?™s nominees included: Taylor Siebert, Fresno State; Renee Skidmore, Idaho; Melanie De Leon, Nevada; Lehua Wise, New Mexico State and Jenelle Gomez, San Jose State.
SAN JOSE STATE WINS WOLF PACK INVITATIONAL ?“ San Jose State completed a start-to-finish victory capturing top honors at the Wolf Pack Invitational women?™s golf tournament by 25 strokes. The Spartans finished with a 54-hole team total of 913 on the par 71, 6,241-yard course. Consistent throughout, San Jose State had individual round scores that ranged from 303 to 305.
WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Idaho and New Mexico State sponsor women?™s golf.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2006 WAC Championship travels to San Jose, Calif., and Golf Club at Boulder Ridge. This year?™s Championship will be held April 24-26, 2006. The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge is a mountain style course, constructed on a ridge. The course is designed by Bradford Benz and opened for play September 2001. Extensive mounding on the open fairways gives this course a "linksy" feel. Water comes into play on two holes. The greens are large, averaging 6,000 square feet, and fast. Bouder Ridge plays from 5,005 to 6,923-yards and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.
