Fresno State to Host 2006 WAC Baseball Tournament

DENVER ?“ The Western Athletic Conference and Commissioner Karl Benson announced today that Fresno State would host the 2006 WAC Baseball Tournament. The decision was made based on a vote during a WAC Council conference call.

The tournament will be played May 25-28 at Fresno State?™s 5,575-seat Beiden Field. The field will include the top six teams in the WAC which include Fresno State, Hawai'i, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State and affiliate member Sacramento State.

"We are excited to reinstate the WAC Baseball Tournament and to be able to hold it in Fresno," said WAC Commissioner Karl Benson. "Fresno State has always been a competitive program and attracts some of the largest crowds in the nation every year."

Fresno State was the host the last time the WAC held a baseball tournament in 1999. The Bulldogs will also host the 2006 WAC Softball Tournament, May 11-13.
