DENVER ?“ Hawai'i?™s Juliana Sanders has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 14. This is the second WAC Player of the Week honor for the sophomore.
The Kaneohe, Oahu, native, hit .476 with 12 kills and seven blocks in the five-game win at Utah State to clinch the WAC regular season title. It was the Rainbow Wahine?™s 10th-straight WAC title. She then hit a career-high .800 with 12 kills and no errors on 15 attempts with six blocks at San Jose State. Last week, the sophomore averaged 3.00 kills per game and 1.62 blocks per game while hitting an amazing .611. The middle is now averaging 2.70 kpg and 1.26 bpg, while hitting .383.
Other nominees included: Alison Pitton of Fresno State had 31 kills and 25 digs as the Bulldogs split matches last week … Salaia Salave`a of Nevada averaged 4.00 kills per game and 4.88 points per game as the Wolf Pack defeated Idaho and Fresno State … Sarah Silagy of New Mexico State had 38 kills and 10 block assists as the Aggies won three matches last week … Carolyn Forbush of Utah State had 26 kills and 25 digs in two Aggies losses.
