HAWAI'I RANKED 19TH NATIONALLY ?“ Hawai'i continues to be ranked 19th by the CollegeSwimming.com top 25. The Wahine finished 16th at the 2004-05 NCAA Championships. They are led once again by divers Rui Wang and QiongJie Huang. Melanie Schlanger and Bache Atkins lead a strong swimming corps.
XBOX LIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK ?“ Hawai'i?™s QiongJie Huang has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference women?™s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.
Huang, a senior from Wen Zhou, Zhe Jiang, China, won both the one-meter and three-meter springboard events at the Indiana Collegiate Invitational. Huang captured the one-meter event with a score of 304.35, while taking the three-meter event the next day with a total of 344.35. On the final day of the meet, Huang placed fifth overall in the platform with a score of 319.45.
Other nominees included: Candace Fajardo, Northern Arizona and Brie Marhenke, San Jose State.

CollegeSwimming.com PollNEVADA FINISHES SECOND AT SPEEDO CUP ?“ Nevada passed BYU on the final day of the Speedo Cup being hosted by UC Irvine in Long Beach, Calif. to finish second. The Wolf Pack entered the final day third behind Stanford, and BYU. Stanford won the meet easily with 1,760.5 points, and the Pack moved ahead of BYU on the final day to finish second with 723 points to outdistance BYU who scored 699 points. Nevada?™s 400-yard freestyle relay swam to a first place finish on the final day to highlight the Pack?™s success at the meet.
WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Only Idaho and New Mexico State sponsor swimming and diving. Northern Arizona and San Diego continue as affiliate members.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO PALO ALTO ?“ The 2006 edition of the WAC Championship returns to Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio. This year will mark a new champion for the first time nine years, with the departure of SMU. The Championship will be held Feb. 22-25, 2006.
NCAA DIVING ZONES ?“ There are five NCAA Diving zones, being held March 9-11 or March 10-12. The following are the five respective sites.
