The AP preseason men's basketball poll was released today and Nevada came in at number 22. Last month, the Wolf Pack was ranked 25th in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' preseason poll. It's the first time a WAC team has been ranked in the preseason by both major polls since Utah, New Mexico and TCU were in both preseason polls in 1998. Utah State and Hawai'i also received votes in the poll.
Nevada opened its season with 77-69 exhibition win over Rockhurst last Thursday. Junior Nick Fazekas, the preseason WAC Player of the Year, scored a game-high 22 points. The Wolf Pack continue its exhibition season with a home game against Humboldt State this Saturday. The season begins for real when they host Sacramento State on Nov. 19.
