Skidmore, a sophomore from Everett, Wash., shot a 220 to win the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Invitational. Skidmore fired rounds of 74-75-71 to cl aim the honor. She led the Vandals to a one-stroke team title over the College of Charleston.
Other women?™s nominees included: Laura Luethke, Fresno State; Melanie DeLeon, Nevada and Lehua Wise, New Mexico State.
WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Idaho and New Mexico State sponsor women?™s golf.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2006 WAC Championship travels to San Jose, Calif., and Golf Club at Boulder Ridge. This year?™s Championship will be held April 24-26, 2006. The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge is a mountain style course, constructed on a ridge. The course is designed by Bradford Benz and opened for play September 2001. Extensive mounding on the open fairways gives this course a "linksy" feel. Water comes into play on two holes. The greens are large, averaging 6,000 square feet, and fast. Bouder Ridge plays from 5,005 to 6,923-yards and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.
