    WAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
    SMUs Anja Carman, a freshman from Godesic, Slovania, continued her impressive freshman campaign winning two events against No. 4 Texas and No. 7 Arizona and placing second in two others. Carman was victorious in the 200 back (1:56.87) and 500 free (4:45.17) on day one. On day two she took second in the 100 back (55.05) and 200 fly (2:01.55). Carman owns WAC best times in the 500 free and 100 and 200 back on the season.

    TEAMS IN THE CSCAA TOP 25
    SMU and Hawaii continue to be ranked the CSCAA Poll. SMU holds its position at No. 6, while the Wahine fall to 22nd. Both teams finished the 2003-04 season in the top 25 and finished 1-2, respectivley, at the WAC Championship.

    CONFERENCE DUALS
    Four teams will compete in conference duals this week. No. 6 SMU will face off with in-state rival Rice on February 6 at Perkins Natatorium in Dallas. San Jose State travels to Reno for a dual with Nevada. Also in attendace at the meet is Tulane, who will take on both the Spartans and Wolf Pack.

    WAC ADDS TWO AFFILIATE MEMBERS
    The Western Athletic Conference announced that invitations for affiliate membership have been issued to and accepted by the University of San Diego and Northern Arizona to join the conference effective the 2004-05 season. Northern Arizona is a member of the Big Sky Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the National Independent Conference (NIC). It has done so since the 1998-99 season. The Lumberjacks have finished outside the top three at the NIC Championships only once, finishing second four times. San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference (PCSC).

    PALO ALTO TO HOST 2005 WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
    The 2004-05 WAC Championship will be held in San Antonio at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, February 23-26, 2005. The WAC returns to the Alamo City for its fifth-consecutive year. SMU has won the last seven championships, and will be competing in its last year as a WAC member.

    NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
    The 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held, March 13-17 at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue will serve as the host institution. NCAA Diving Zones will be held March 10-13 at each regions selected site.

    WAC TO ADD NEW MEMBER IN 2005
    New Mexico State and Idaho will join the Western Athletic Conference, beginning July 1, 2005. Both members and their swiming and diving programs will help continue the success the has had. The Aggies are led by head coach John Fedena, while the Vandals head coach is Tom Jager.
